Sunday's with Teddy

This weekend finally brought us some warm sunny weather! Although, I think we skipped spring and went straight to summer so Sandra got her first sunburn...surprise surprise.

It turned into a girls weekend as Shaun had to work both Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, Sandra took her niece, Kayla, out for a shopping spree and sleepover. The evening conveniently included a teeny bop movie, 17 Again, that Kayla chose but Sandra was probably dying to see even more. Then Saturday was makeover mania with 3 ½ hours spent pampering the Geiger woman. While Sunday led us to discover some new favorite activities around the DC area. Meredith and Sandra took the pups, Murphy and Cali, to walk around Roosevelt Island and enjoy some exercise, shade and scenery. But they couldn’t get enough of the sun and scenery so they headed back for a kayak excursion. Sunday was a gorgeous day spent honoring Theodore Roosevelt rounded out by friendly cornhole competition at the Bursch’s. What a great finish to a perfect weekend!

Four Murphy's

We headed down to Richmond this past weekend to celebrate Marc and Ami’s expected arrival. It was a gorgeous weekend with sun, friends and fun! The boys headed out for some fishing and baseball while the girls showered Ami with baby gifts. Let’s just say times have changed because the pregnant attendees outnumbered us. It’s not all that bad though, it just left more champagne for Jenni, Meghan and I. The Stiffler’s (yes Jenni will one day be referred to as Stiffler’s mom) opened their home to us and we continued the festivities with a BBQ afterwards. They’re amazing cooks so we spent the rest of the evening feasting and laughing around the fire pit. We couldn’t have asked for a better night catching up with all our friends, if only we all still lived in the same town!

Speed Racer

Sunday we started off on a 10 mile adventure and both Meredith and I accomplished our goals, although very different!!! Meredith finished the race in under 1 hour and 30 minutes and I crossed the finish line before the pregnant runner =) Thanks Erika for setting the pace and holding back and not embarrassing me, although I know you could have!

The Carlson’s, Meredith and Us all entered the Cherry Blossom 10 miler earlier this year. It was before Erika knew she was pregnant, when Shaun and I thought we were in shape and Meredith had forgotten about the crowds associated with the event. So it was a reality check for us on Saturday when we almost ran out of gas trying to pick-up our race packets to only sit in 2 hours of traffic and a line that wrapped around the National Building Museum. Needless to say on Saturday night while we're loading up on our pasta dinner we contemplated why we were running this race versus enjoying a night of drinks and the final four?!?! Temptation was there but we didn't cave and in the end we're glad we ran the race. Although, it might have put Shaun into race retirement as his knees are aching and he's hobbling around now like an old man.

March Madness

March was a fun month for us; traveling, visiting with friends, celebrating new arrivals, anniversaries and the newly married!

Sandra headed up to San Francisco to spend a weekend with Amy and Reagan and to our surprise another little Baby Bennett that's on the way! So on that note we have to give a shout out to all the expecting mommies; Erika, Muge, Amy and Amanda, CONGRATS!!!


It wasn't but two weeks later that we got to enjoy the company of the Bennett's again, this time daddy included. Amy, Phil and Reagan made their first family visit to DC and we showed Reagan all of the hot spots; Rays, the National Zoo and Rio! And this was truly a Rio milestone for us...15 adults and six kids, we're getting close to being out numbered?!?! One of the highlights of the weekend was Carl and Toni's wedding in Arlington. It was such an amazing day and we hope the happy couple is enjoying their honeymoon in Greece, congratulations!

We didn't really have much down time in March but Shaun and I managed to squeeze in an anniversary date night and a quick trip to Williamsburg to enjoy the 400 years of history down at the Jamestown Settlement. We had a lot of picture perfect moments but unfortunately the camera battery died. So just do your best to visualize Shaun discovering the frontier; ship captain, blacksmith, you name it he wanted to try it!

But all the hype in March really comes down to the NCAA tournament. We kicked off the festivities this year at the Pour House, some earlier than others, and are eagerly anticipating tonight’s game. We're both are out of the running for our pool championship but the battle remains for the family title...who will come in first Brandon, Steve, Shaun or Sandra?!?!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

What better way to celebrate St. Patty's Day then to dress up your dog in a shamrock sweater =) We kicked off the festivities a week early with the Old Town Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Dog Show and Parade. Boy how days have changed, Amy and I used to organize a pub crawl around this parade but now we were sitting on the sidelines picking out which Irish hooligans would be the most trouble by the end of the day!

The celebrations continued on until today, we had our traditional corn beef and cabbage for dinner last night. Don't be surprised, Shaun did all the cooking...I'll get there one day =) And today we're going in search of some green beer! Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all!!!

Vegas Baby!!!

So what's typically reserved for a guys weekend turned into a couples weekend, but I proved I can hang after spending all of Sunday in the Sports Book =) And I even picked the NASCAR winner which made us $140 richer!!! Then to top it off, I even secured us a return visit by betting on the NBA Championship game. Go Suns!

Olympics Ready or Not?!?!

This winter we have focused all our efforts on mastering our skiing abilities! But we soon learned that Shaun's last name isn't White and I myself had a dose of reality when I ate it on Hot Dog Hill, 10 points for the landing and negative 30 for the tumble there after!

Our trip to Park City for New Years really lit the fire so we rallied up the troops to celebrate Meredith's Birthday on the ski slopes in West Virginia. We had a great time skiing at Snowshoe and partying it up for Meredith's BDay, minus the fact our birthday girl dissed us?!?! Not really the poor birthday girl got the flu and had to miss her own party. Happy Birthday Meredith, we'll make sure next years is more memorable!


But to really earn my Snow Bunny status we had to take yet another trip to Vermont and ski Okemo. I thought I was a pro after skiing out West but it's here were my legs started to shake and buckle underneath my attempts at jumps. Oh well, it was all worth it to hang out at the new Eriksson/Tuncel Chalet! And to make things even more exciting, I finally got to show Shaun my roots at UMASS. While some like to reminisce about their classes, hangouts, etc. Muge and I focused the tour around our favorite food establishments =) We did subject the boys to a trip down memory lane though visiting Kappa and our house on Stockbridge Street. They certainly were troopers as we enjoyed the excursion 10 times more than they did, you can tell by our trip to the Campus Store!!!
