Texas Girl

We took a road trip down to the original Salt Lick today to introduce Kara to Texas BBQ.  We figured it was only fitting since this was one of our very first stops when we moved to Texas.  It will be fun sharing some of our traditions with Kara and exploring more of Texas together!

Happy Birthday

I love birthdays so you know I have to acknowledge the 1 week mark ;)  This first week has flown by but Kara is making great progress, she's gaining weight and is a great sleeper so far!  We've already had a few outings out of the house including a trip to the Farmers Market and a Newborn Photo Shoot.  We can't wait to get the pictures back as the sneak peek we saw looked so stinking cute!!!

Kara had her first spa day today, we filed her nails and gave her a sponge bath.  What service you get as a newborn ;)

Kara the Kitty

As most of you know, we had a really hard time picking out a name for our little girl.  The day before we went into the hospital I was talking to Alli and she asked if we had a name yet, I told her we would be picking one out tomorrow and she had a few suggestions for me; Doggie, Kitty, or Horsey.  So in honor of Alli, one of Kara's nicknames is now Kara the Kitty ;)

Mover & A Shaker

We are starting to feel like everyday is a big day and offers something new to celebrate.  Today was Kara's first walk outside and first doctor's appointment.  Which also led us to discover that she is a mover and a shaker from day one, she loves anything with motion including the swing & bouncy seat.  Lucky for us we now have lots of tricks up are sleeve if/when we need to calm her down.

Today is another big day, we were discharged from the hospital and got to take Kara home to meet her Big Sis, Cali Dog!  Cali is adjusting well and seems very intrigued by the new addition ;)

Hospital Days

I have to laugh, all the hospital bag checklists we read told us to pack entertainment; books, laptop, movies, etc.  We thought this made sense especially since we knew we'd have an extended stay with a CSection but what a joke.  I have no clue where the time goes but we certainly didn't have the time to crack a book or watch a movie.  I have no complaints though, I could snuggle with Kara all day, every day!

Kara Elizabeth Johnson

We're proud to introduce you to our daughter, Kara Elizabeth! She was born this morning at 7:31am weighing in at 7lbs 8 oz and measuring 18 1/2 inches. She has Mom & Dad wrapped around her finger already ;)

Baby Checklist

All month long we've been going through one checklist or another to make sure we're prepared for the big day.  When we were scheduled for the version to try and turn the baby I went out and made sure we had fully stocked diaper changing stations and diaper bags just in case something went wrong and we ended up coming home with a baby.  Thankfully there were no emergencies and we had a few more weeks to prepare.  But today is the final day, we've run through all the lists and we're as ready as we're gonna be.  Hospital bags are packed and the Parents have arrived so its just a matter of hours and we'll get to meet our sweet little baby girl!!!

Playing Catch Up

We were kind of slackers this past year keeping the blog up to date with the latest & greatest news so my New Years Resolution was to get the blog current before the baby arrived and we did it!  So we're back and better than ever as we'll have a new addition to the SS Johnson here in just a few short days!

Final Countdown

We just have one week left until we get to meet our little girl!  Words can't express our excitement, we are so ready and anxiously awaiting her arrival!

38 Weeks

Flip Baby Flip

Well after all our words of encouragement and crazy tricks we were hoping baby would flip but no such luck.  Our doctor scheduled a procedure this week to try and flip her but that didn't work either.  Baby just doesn't want to budge!  So it looks like unless baby has another surprise in store for us we'll have a scheduled CSection here in two weeks?!?!
