Derby Days

We arrived in Kentucky on Wednesday night and we're able to enjoy a low key evening at home before all the festivities started.  It was the perfect night, Steve & Susan, just built a new deck out back and we enjoyed dinner el fresco.  I think we need to enlist them to design our next home as I'm obsessed with both their movie room and their outdoor living space!

Thursday we spent the day at the track with the family.  This year Gayle was able to get several boxes together so we could enjoy the races before the crowds got to bad.  They even smuggled in some jello shots and booze to liven up the party.  I'm impressed with all the tricks they have up their sleeves, they can really teach us all a thing or two ;)  Kathy and Brandon we're arriving later that evening so we kept the party going down at the chow wagons and then met them late night for dinner at Old Chicago.  I think we were out till almost 2am, not bad for a pregnant lady!

Friday we headed out to the boat to do some gambling.  Brandon and I were both on the fence but decided to go along for the ride and I'm sure glad we did!!!  Four of us sat down at a blackjack table and couldn't lose.  We all got "Barney" chips and were comped dinner.  Now I really know what it feels like to sit on a heater ;)

Saturday was the big day, we opted for the family Derby Party this year instead of heading to the track.  It poured once again so we were grateful to have some the indoor space to take advantage of!  Susan was the big winner today, picking the Derby horse and winning the jackpot.  All in all it was a really lucky weekend for the family and we all walked away with some extra cash.

Sunday was certainly another Funday!  Susan spoiled us with a baby shower while we were in town and all of the family came over to celebrate.  We received some of the most precious gifts and are just so excited to come back next time with baby in tow!
